EOY: Portfolios

Portfolio Rubric

In terms of format for the portfolios produced within our program we would like to have a standard.  By having a uniform standard in our portfolios observers will be able to gauge quality and quantity more effectively in looking from one person’s portfolio to the next.  If your portfolio is deemed insufficient or unsatisfactory, then it could determine the status of your placement in the program for next year.

I.    Table of Contents

Listing of what will appear in the portfolio and in what order

For example:  Schedules, transcript, work by subject area (listing by class)

II.  Notebook dividers in place (for each section outlined in your Table of Contents)

III. Breakdown of Schedules (by unit)

Make sure that any changes that have been made to schedules are accurately

            reflected here.

IV. Copy of Transcript (if available)

V.  Class Breakdown

You may want to, at this point, assemble your portfolio in one of two ways:

                        A.  Organize by subject area and alphabetize or chronologically sequence

classes.  Or you could choose to organize class by the particular field

within a subject area (i.e. have all your biology classes together, then

                              chemistry, then physics, etc.)

                        B.  Organize by unit, then by order of class schedule (1st period to 8th) or

                              alphabetically

Either way you would like to organize your work, you will need to have the

            following components for each class:

                        Course Syllabus

                        Course Checklist

                        All work assembled

                        Course Evaluation

Special Note:  The teacher of a course is not obligated to provide an additional checklist or course syllabus if one has already been provided.  You may be expected to make a copy with your own money and on your own time in order to get your portfolio up to the standard structure.
